# Psychiatric Medication Management 

Medication can be a genuine turning point — when it's chosen carefully, explained clearly, and adjusted with attention over time. Done poorly, it's a guessing game that leaves people discouraged. Medication management with a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is meant to be the careful kind.

Sheilah Battle-Stephens, PMHNP-BC, manages medication as a collaboration. You are part of every decision, you understand the reasoning, and the plan evolves as you do.

## What medication management looks like here

It begins with a thorough psychiatric evaluation, because a good plan depends on an accurate understanding. From there, Sheilah develops a tailored, evidence-based plan and reviews it with you — what it's meant to help, what to watch for, and how you'll know whether it's working.

Follow-up is where the real work happens. Standard follow-up visits are recommended about every three months so the plan can be fine-tuned — adjusted, simplified, or reconsidered — based on how you're actually doing. This is ongoing care, not a one-time prescription.

## An evaluative approach, not a promise

Sheilah keeps all medication conversations evidence-based and honest. Finding the right approach can take patience, and she's candid about that. What she offers is careful evaluation, clear communication, and a plan that's monitored and adjusted — the conditions under which medication has the best chance to help.
